We hope you’ve had a warm, fun, and safe New Year’s Eve and that your 2012 is off to a great start! Since a lot of you are thinking about resolutions right now, we wanted to do something to help any of you who are resolving to pay off more debt in 2012 (which we think is a might fine resolution, by the way)!
We’ve created the ReadyForZero New Year’s Challenge to help motivate you to stick with your resolution. Specific goals are much more likely to be acted upon than vague goals, so we came up with the following rules:
- You must commit to paying 10% more toward your debt for three months, and
- You must pledge not to use your credit card during that time
The beauty of this challenge, which you can find by logging into ReadyForZero and clicking on the “Actions” tab, is that it will push you to stick with your New Year’s resolutions (for real) this year – no procrastination, no letdown, and no hiding. What’s even cooler is that we’ve added a special action within our product that allows you to:
- Make your commitment to take the challenge
- See how much more you should pay each month to hit your goal
- Get specific tips and advice on how to keep your resolution
- Share your commitment with friends and family who can encourage you
This way, it is very straightforward for you, so that you can focus on the task at hand: getting out of debt.
But we didn’t want you to feel like you were doing it alone. So we created a special Zero Debt Action Plan for you – that’s where our specific tips and advice come in! We’ve partnered up with personal finance experts extraordinaires, Credit Karma and Money Crashers, and we’ll use these tips to show you exactly how to accomplish the four goals listed above. For example, we’ll explain how you can save money on groceries and use the money you saved to pay off your debt even faster.
When you start the challenge, we’ll give you the option to receive the Zero Debt Action Plan as well. [Note: if you can’t wait to see this, go log-in to ReadyForZero and find the New Year’s Challenge by clicking on “Actions”!]
We’re pretty sure 2012 is going to be a great year, and we plan to be here every step of the way with you – helping you kick debt’s butt and achieve your awesome financial goals.
Happy New Year!
