Welcome to America Saves Week / Military Saves Week!

America Saves Week 2013

Our mission here at ReadyForZero is to help people pay off debt and get in control of their finances so that they can have the joy of accomplishing their dreams without being hindered by money concerns.

And making a strong commitment to saving money is a big part of that.

For that reason, we are excited to support the 2013 America Saves Week and Military Saves Week. Both of these events started yesterday and they run concurrently through the end of this week. As a special part of the week, today will feature a “tweet chat” focused on debt and how to get rid of it (read the details below).

Take the Pledge

In order to participate in America Saves Week, we urge you to go take the Savings Pledge! In the same way ReadyForZero helps you stay motivated to continue paying down your balances, the Savings Pledge encourages you to stick with your goal of saving a certain amount every month.

How much will you pledge to save? Fifty dollars? One hundred dollars? Five hundred dollars? No matter what your amount is, the fact that you’ve made the pledge is what’s important. And once you’ve made the pledge, start planning how you will stick to it.

Get Savings Tips

Their website also has some great resources, including an article on how to automate your savings and a page dedicated to all the many different ways you can reduce your monthly spending. In honor of Military Saves Week, we also published an article over at the Huffington Post with suggestions of personal finance tips for military families.

And don’t forget, if you are working on paying off debt, you should join our tweet chat today with the organizers of America Saves Week. It will take place at 3:00 p.m. EST / 12:00 PST and you can follow the conversation on Twitter with the hashtag #MilitarySaves. Get your debt and savings related questions answered and pick up some great tips on how to stick with your savings pledge. Also, you can win a $100 gift card! Go check out the official webpage to sign up.

See you there!
